What is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers, are a cosmetic dental procedure that consists of thin, custom made porcelain ‘shells’ that are permanently bonded to the fronts of your teeth.
With this one procedure you can whiten your teeth, fix chips and cracks, close large gaps, and make teeth appear straighter, and protect yourself from sensitivity due to worn enamel.
To prepare a tooth for a veneer approximately a 1/2 millimeter of enamel is removed, called etching, from the surface of your tooth which ends up being about the thickness of the veneer.

How does tooth bleaching work?
Bleaching gels contain either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. When applied to teeth, the peroxide molecules get into the tiny pores of the enamel. There they break down into oxygen molecules which breaks up the stains that block out the light.
Thus, the more light that passes through the teeth the lighter they appear.
