tooth colored fillings

Natural colored tooth fillings or ‘composite fillings’ are used as an alternative to traditional amalgam or ‘silver’  fillings.

To prepare the tooth for a composite filling, decay is removed leaving the healthy tooth structure intact. The composite filling is bonded to the tooth so it aids in maintaining the tooth’s natural strength and integrity.

Advantages of composite fillings over traditional amalgam fillings:

  • Less natural tooth structure needs to be removed when prepping the tooth
  • Composite fillings are bonded to tooth structure
  • Composite fillings can be matched to your natural tooth coloring for a seamless smile
  • No risk of mercury toxicity

Root Canal

A tooth’s nerve can become irritated for many reasons:

  • inflammation
  • decay
  • repeated dental procedures on the same tooth
  • trauma to the face
  • and more

A root canal is performed in order to save a badly infected tooth and to get rid of the infection.

During the root canal procedure the diseased tooth pulp and nerve as well as the bacteria causing the infection is removed. Once the root canal is completed the tooth is sealed to prevent further infection.

composite bonding

Composite bonding is the dental restorative technique of applying a tooth-colored material to the surface of a tooth to improve its appearance. The durable resin is applied directly to the tooth and cured with a special light, ultimately “bonding” it to the tooth.

At Fine Touch Dental we use composite bonding to:

  • Repair chipped or cracked teeth
  • Cover a permanently stained tooth
  • Close spaces between teeth
  • Cover an exposed tooth root when gums have receded  make a tooth appear longer
  • Correct the shape of a tooth

Dental bonding is an extremely easy and cost effective way to improve the look of your smile.

wisdom teeth x-ray

wisdom teeth extractions

Wisdom teeth, also referred to as the “third molars”, and are as important as other teeth, but more prone to problems during their eruption (breaking through the gum tissue).

Since wisdom teeth are the last to erupt — usually between the ages of 17 and 21 — there often is little room left in the mouth.

As a result, wisdom teeth may erupt sideways, only partially, or become trapped (impacted), leading to pain, infection, and swelling at the gum line and in the face.

When any of these conditions arise, your dentist may determine that wisdom tooth extraction is necessary.
